Matt Nicolle is a Class A British PGA Professional and Long Drive Champion. He grew up in the Island of Jersey, U.K where his passion for golf began. He later moved to London where he lived for 7 years before relocating to San Diego, California in March of 2020.

Matt has been working in the golf industry for over 10 years; from coaching, training, club fitting, competing to event management, Matt has a broad spectrum of skills and experiences to bring to Bernardo Heights Country Club.

Through his years of experience, he has coached and shared his passion for improving people’s games across the globe- whether they’re casual golfers or future PGA professionals.

Combining competitive spirit and his natural ability to produce impressive ball speeds, he took up the sport of Long Drive in 2016. He went on to win the Long Drive European Tour in 2017, with a record points total. He has now won five times globally and his longest drive in competition is 439 Yards!

Matt views coaching and player development as creating an environment that aids learning, performance and growth. He has a comprehensive style with the underlying goal to build a level of ownership, using a measurable and holistic approach to each player. This creates more emphasis on self-awareness and self-correction. There are many paths that can be taken to elevate performance, it is finding the right one that will have the most benefit and can be repeated the most effectively.

With a mindset and passion for continued learning, Matt continues to challenge himself with developing all aspects of the game- including staying up to speed with the latest technology, product knowledge across all manufacturers and studying a broad spectrum of coaching techniques with the understanding that not all players are the same.

He has an extensive background in player development and looks forward to bringing this experience to Bernardo Heights Country Club!
